Massage is one of the greatest tools in combating muscular tension, strains and dysfunction. But it is also a great stress-buster, and can both relax and re-energize. So in these fairly miserable winter months take a deep breath and consider taking an hour out for a truly relaxing and revitalizing massage.
The amazing thing about massage is that it is able to deliver so many different things to different people, not just physical benefits. It can be a time of just "being" and self-awareness that allows mental or emotional release or even change to take place. Each client can take what they need from their time on the couch.
Do please feel free to use the comments box on the "Contact" page not just to ask about treatments but also to tell me what you thought of the treatment you received. All feedback, good or bad, really is valuable in enabling me to give you exactly the massage you want.

Therapies offered
Therapeutic massage
A firm but gentle treatment to promote deep relaxation. Soothe away the physical tension, which is so commonly held in the neck, shoulders and upper back, and release mental and emotional stress at the same time.
Therapeutic massage will aid both blood and lymphatic circulation, improving the functioning of the whole body. It will boost energy levels, restore balance in the body's metabolism, and leave your skin toned, nourished and exfoliated.
Sports and Remedial Massage
Designed to target specific problems, each treatment is carefully tailored to your individual needs. This is deep tissue work and uses more detailed assessment of posture and body mechanics, and special techniques to achieve results.
Remedial massage helps to redress muscle imbalances in the body (which can cause chronic pain and dysfunction over time), and will stretch out tight and tense muscles. Strengthening exercises, as well as specific stretches, may be given. This massage also aids recovery from acute soft tissue injuries, such as muscle strains.
If you engage fairly seriously in sports of any kind, sports massage is beneficial as part of your training, keeping joints flexible and muscles supple and toned, with a good blood supply for optimal performance. This reduces the risk of injury, and post-event, aids the body's recovery after being pushed hard.
No Hands Massage
A revolutionary and extremely powerful form of massage pioneered by Gerry Pyves, which uses the soft forearms and the bodyweight of the therapist so that you experience very deep but comfortable pressure. It is holistic and systemic in its approach, but because of its depth and nurturing touch, can produce great release from muscle tension, as well as amazing relaxation and healing of body and mind. It works at whatever level you allow it to, whether physical or emotional, even spiritual. It will help to enable you to "let go" of whatever you need to, and is often called "transforming touch" because it can produce considerable change in the recipient.
As well as a deep back or full body massage, one of the treatments on offer is an abdominal and colon massage. Too often, this area is neglected, but it is important to release tension held here in the core of your body, and to work the muscular digestive tract so that it remains healthy. Digestive problems affect the health of the entire body, and will be relieved by deep but soothing massage of the abdomen.
There are two new No Hands treatments now available, a reflex treatment to stimulate and balance the body through the reflex points of the feet, and a detox massage. Both of these are performed with the client clothed (apart from the feet) and can be ideal for busy working people.

Pregnancy and Post-natal Massage
This is a wonderful time to enjoy some nurturing, relaxing touch. Your body has to cope with many changes at this time, and pregnancy massage will relieve lower backache, swollen legs and other problems associated with the latter stages of pregnancy, helping you to continue to feel in top condition. NB.It is generally advisable to avoid massage during the first three months.
After the birth and your six-week check-up, massage will help the body back into shape and relieve the stress and tiredness of coping with a new baby.
Thai Massage
This treatment is based on traditional Thai methods, but is adapted for working on a couch. Working with pressure along energy lines to release blockages and increase blood flow, stimulate nerve pathways and energize, it is also very holistic. It incorporates yoga-type passive stretches to release tension in your body and improve your flexibility.
Thai massage is performed through loose or comfortable clothing, and is therefore the perfect massage for you if you don't like having to undress.
Myofascial Release
This is a very effective way of releasing tension in the whole body. Fascia is a web of soft connective tissue that runs throughout the body connecting it's various structures and holding everything together, sometimes in a fine web and in places in thicker bands. It can, with age, injury and scar tissue adhesions or misuse of muscles, become less fluid than it should be and cause restrictions in range of movement, stiffness and pain.
Myofascial techniques are firm, but gentle, and feel good to receive. They can both be used as a specific stand-alone treatment, or incorporated into other massage treatments.
